Constitutional Scholar Advisor

I am a Constitutional Scholar Advisor at the International Constitution Center in Lugano, Switzerland,, an Associate Editor of the Constitutional Studies Journal, and a Lecturer at the British International University. I hold a PhD in the political philosophy of the constitution and pursued part of my doctoral studies in law and politics at Sciences Po Grenoble in France. My scholarly work engages with constitutional governance, human rights, liberal democracy, and the rule of law, with a particular focus on comparative constitutionalism, EU Contitutional Law, the philosophy of law, democracy, and human dignity.

The Global Summit on Constitutionalism

March 20–22, 2025

The University of Texas at Austin

I was honored to participate in the third Global Summit on Constitutionalism, held from March 20–22, 2025, at the University of Texas at Austin School of Law, United States. This prestigious international conference brought together over 300 researchers, constitutional scholars, and justices from more than 60 countries to engage in high-level discussions on constitutional theory and practice.

At this global academic gathering, I proudly represented Soran University as a lecturer in constitutional law at the Faculty of Law, Political Science. I was also the sole participant from Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, contributing to the summit by presenting my research paper titled: “Constitution without Constitutionalism: Challenges of Constitutional Governance in Iraq.”

The 3rd International Conference on Emerging Legal Issues

I was pleased to serve as a main organizing committee member and panel moderator at the 3rd International Conference on Emerging Legal Issues held on June 3–4, 2025, at Leeds Law School – Leeds Beckett University, UK.

The event was jointly organized by the Department of Law at the Faculty of Law, Political Science and Management, Soran University & Leeds Beckett Law School, bringing together academics and legal researchers to discuss critical developments in the legal field.

My Participation in the 11th World Forum for Democracy 2023, orchestrated by the Council of Europe. The event fostered in-depth conversations about current democratic concerns, offering a stage for experts and participants to explore diverse contentious topics concerning democracy and the construction of peace.

Towards International Criminal Justice in Kurdistan – An Opportunity for Application

I was thrilled to participate as a panelist in the second annual conference of The Kurdistan Center for International Law, where I presented a topic on "Drones and Nano-Drones: A Moral and Legal Reading in the Light of International Law." The conference was held on December 16, 2023, in Sulaimani City, Kurdistan region of Iraq. This topic is essentially a scientific project on drone warfare, examining it from three different perspectives:

- Drones and the End of Just War Theory: Philosophical Perspective.

- Drones and PlayStation Mentality: A Moral Reading.

- Drones and Responsibility: A Legal Framework.

GRM 2024, University of Cambridge

I was thrilled to participate in #GulfResearchMeeting2024 - the second workshop, "The GCC between the Kurdistan Region and Iraq," organized by the Gulf Research Centre Cambridge at the University of Cambridge, UK. The title of our paper, coauthored with Dr. Bzhar Ahmed was "Targeting Sovereignty: A Study of Drone Warfare and Its Implications for Iraq and the Kurdistan Region."

Our research focuses on the use of drones and the violation of the sovereignty of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, which, in addition to threatening the country's sovereignty, also causes civilian casualties. We have proposed legal regulation of the use of drones in international law and a redefinition of sovereignty.

Human Rights Day

On World Human Rights Day, the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences at Soran University organized a workshop. I participated in a discussion on the topic: 'The Age of Human Rights or the Age of the End of Human Rights: The Right to Resist Despotism as an Example".

Constitutionalism from Plato’s Perspective: The Influence of Plato’s Political Thought on Modern Constitutions

I took part in the 8th Scientific Conference of Tishk International University, presenting a research paper. My study delves into the three dialogues of “The Republic,” “Statesman,” and “Laws.”

Emerging Legal Issues
